Beautiful solar microscope manufactured by Charles Lincoln in London around 1775. The microscope is in good condition, housed in a box that has surely been adapted. It retains most of the original lacquer and is operational.

Charles Lincoln was born in 1744 and died in 1807. He began as an apprentice at the Spectaclemaker's Company in 1758, settling on his own in 1762 at Cornhill Street near de Poultry in London, until 1791 when he moved to 62 Leadenhall Street, also in London. Lincoln retired in 1801 and built, in addition to microscopes, barometers, pantographs and other drawing instruments.
