A good antique microscope and case Armstrong Brothers 88 Deansgate Manchester

A good Victorian microscope, signed as above with original case. There is much information on the net. About this well known company of scientific instrument makers. Founded in 1825, became Armstrong brothers in 1851.

The base is made of iron and has been finished in brass enamel paint. Both coarse and fine focus work properly. The stage moves back and forth with a back rest for the slide.

Below the stage is a rotating disc of various apertures to control the light. Plain/concave mirror in good condition both sides. It has two objective lenses in canisters 1/4" and a two part 1", 2. All lenses including eyepiece are clean and good and give a sharp image. The original mahogany box is in sound antique condition with the usual patina acquired over the years and a bit of shrinkage to the door.

It has its lock but no key. In the drawer are 5 slides, that seem to be human pathology, pancreas, artery, vein, lunge?

The image in the photo is the human pancreas but is a lot sharper viewed though the scope as it was difficult to capture with an I pad. Weighs about 5 kg without the packing.
