1000 Cycle AUDIO OSCILLATOR GENERAL RADIO 213B Tested ELEGANT VINTAGE COLLECTOR
From one of the Leading US Precision Electronic Instrument makers for almost the whole span of the 20th Century, General Radio Company of Cambridge, Massachusetts. This 1000 CYCLE (Hz) Tuning Fork based, 1920 announced precision oscillator is close to a century old and has retained most of its functionality, precision, sturdiness, technical and appealing finished craftsmanship. It is worthy for a Museum display or a private Collector. Elegant, sturdy wooden (polished walnut) crafted container, engraved Bakelite panel, metal components finished in polished nickel, well preserved on static parts, less so on vibrating tuning fork. Quality components inside coils, capacitors etc. Still functional in addition to its display and collector value to remind younger generations that lasting technological US KNOW HOW predates long before the turn of the Century. Should evoke a nostalgic twinge in those at the opposite end of the chronological spectrum! Tested with 6 Volts DC (polarity not critical) with the following AC (980 Hertz) Outputs measured with a calibrated VTVM: High 5 V - Medium 1.5 V - Low 0.8 V.

Note: if the tuning fork does not initiate vibrating immediately upon switch on, a small' pinch/pluck' of one of the tuning fork ends triggers the continuous oscillations heard within a radius of 10-20 feet. This should remind the old timers the days of cranking to start their automobiles! A range of 4 to 8 V DC is safe. Print out of documentation from the web is included for technical details. But be aware that someone else might grab it in the meantime and you are left with procrastinator's remorse!

Approximate Dimensions: 5 x 6 1/2 x 5 inches or 8.5 x 12.5 x 8.5 cm. Weight 5 lbs (2.25 Kg).
